Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

Welcome to Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!  I missed last spring's giveaway so I'm glad to be participating this time around.

If you're new here, I'm Debbie and I design and make quilts.  My style can be described as graphic, modern and minimalist.  I sell my patterns in my Etsy, Craftsy and PatternSpot shops - check them out in the sidebar. I also have some free projects if you look at the tab at the top of this page.  I've just added six new holiday themed projects that I designed as part of the Holiday Craft Bash so go check them out!  But first:

I'm giving away this little mini quilt called Christmas Tree Farm.  This is one of the projects for the Holiday Craft Bash, so if you want to make your own you can.  The fabric is from Kate Spain's Joy line.  This little quilt is about 12" x 18" and has triangles sewn in the corners on the back so all you'll need to do to hang it is add a dowel rod or something similar.  It is raw-edge applique - a technique that is not typical for me, but I wanted to give it a try.

So, to enter, tell me what is the decorating centerpiece of your holiday - is it a live tree, an heirloom handed down in your family, something funky and fun you and your sweetie bought, your mantel that you decorate differently every year?  Leave another comment as a second entry if you follow me (blog, FB, Twitter, Pinterest...).

My giveaway is open to international entries.  I will draw a random winner at the end of the day on Dec 7 (I am in the US Eastern time zone).  Please, please make sure you leave me a way to contact you if you are the winner!  Every time I do a giveaway I get many entries from "no-reply-blogger"s that I have no way to reach.

I'm no computer expert but I think this works:  If you want to know if you are a no-reply-blogger, click on the "Design" button on the top right corner of your blog, then, also in the top right corner there will be a drop down menu where you can choose "Blogger Profile".  Look on the left column.  There should be a spot that says "e-mail".  If you don't have an email address connected to your blog, I can't find you.

If this sounds too complicated, just make sure you put your email address in your comment.  If you want to avoid spam you can spell out parts of it like "mary at aol dot com".

Good luck!

My decorating focal point is our tree full of handmade ornaments by and for our children. I also collect gingerbread men (we have 5 sons, no daughters, so gingerbread men seem to fit well in our home!)

  16. We are getting our real tree next weekend. I also plan on ordering some fake ones in fun colors. Thanks!

  20. Definitely our Christmas tree filled with ornaments collected for over 40 years!
    Thank you!

  21. The central piece is definetely the tree in the garden which we light up every year and can see directly through the window from the living room! Our pets have proved to be xmas tree ornament destroyers, so we don't have a tree inside.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh that looks cute. The center of my Christmas is our Christmas stuff. Seconded by the manger with itty bitty Jesus.

    ReplyDelete
  23. We have a garland in the kitchen window which carries all the self-made little pieces which we have collected over the years. And of course, we have an "advents kranz" which is decorated with four candles and red and golden christmas balls. It has the form of a bar and is not round as it normally is in Germany.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks for the opportunity on a great draw. Love the quilt. I made a x-stitch Welcome to our home Xmas picture the first year we were married and it is still the go-to piece that we pull out each year to start our decorating.

  25. We get 2 trees each year--one is the family tree with colored lights, school-made ornaments, old family ornaments and lots of tinsel. The other is only white lights with only red, white, or gingerbread/cookie/candy related ornaments. It's in my kitchen/dining room. Love them both!

    ReplyDelete
  26. We just got a live tree yesterday and the house smells gorgeous. It will be decorated as soon as my husband finds the lights. It's the second year in a row that they have gone missing... ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is so cute! The centerpiece of our decorations is always a New Mexico Christmas tree (pinon pine). I live in Oklahoma now, but always travel to New Mexico at Thanksgiving so we can go up in the mountains with my family and chop down a tree to bring home.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I just have a prelit tree from Target, trying to build up my special, family Christmas decoration collection :)

  30. Now that my children are grown & gone, this is a decorating ritual from the past. I use to make hundreds of cut out paper snow flakes and hang them on clear fish line from pins in the ceiling of all the rooms. When the fan would come on, they would all move like real a real snow storm. My boys loved it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. The center of our holiday decorating is the living room mantel. We always have a precious Nativity scene, but I try to add new elements to the rest of it each year.

  32. we decorate our house with lots of outside lights, the flashier the better

  33. our center is a live tree, everything goes around that :)

  34. My mom made me some super cute fabric trees so we decorate with those because our apt. it too small for a tree and im worried about the dog munching ornaments and dying :(

    This is super pretty!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Our focal point is the Christmas tree - fake of course. :)
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  36. We don't do a lot of decorating, but I do like to pull out a manger scene. Our children, and now the grandchildren really enjoy it.

  39. My parents' beautiful all-white nativity was always the focal point, but as this is my first Christmas where I'm actually decorating since moving out, we'll see what winds up being the focal point.

    ReplyDelete
  40. This is so pretty! Thanks for the chance to win!
My favorite decoration is a nativity my grandparents brought back from Israel for me. I also have an ornament my daughter made when she was itty bitty that I love.

    ReplyDelete
  41. What a lovely giveaway :) The focal point in my holiday decorating is definitely a live tree. I love displaying a myriad of ornaments on it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love this mini. It would look great with some of more recent decorations. My tree, decorated by my children is usually my focal point, but this year I added a Wall Quilt made with Flurry by Kate Spain which I love.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mine would have to be the real christmas tree we have put up this yr. looks fab

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't decorate much anymore. I do put up a snowman wall hanging, home made Christmas stockings and Christmas table toppers.

    ReplyDelete
  45. A big real christmas tree with red and silver decoration..;)
Thank you and have a nice christmas time.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I have a new favorite - a Christmas centerpiece I MADE for my coffee table. I don't usually craft with flowers, but bought some at the store and made it and I love love love it!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think our Christmas focal point this year is the huge paper plate angel my 2 yr old made at class last week. Though it is SO cute, it's SO big it sticks out among the rest of the ornaments on our tree. You can't miss it!

    ReplyDelete
  48. For us, the focal point is always a live tree - there is nothing I love more, and I'm willing to deal with the pine needles that we continue to find in random places throughout the year to have it!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Such a pretty mini! My house is very very small so I decorate with various christmassy stuff and a beautiful red poinsettia that my mother gives me each year. Terrific giveaway, thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  50. My decorating item for Christmas is a banner of felt letters (saying "Merry Christmas") that my grandmother made for each of her grandchildren - and that our parents also had from her, a generation before! Each letter has an incredible variety of sequins on it, incredible vintage ones that you just can't find these days. I pack them away so carefully every year, I dont' want to lose a single wacky sequin! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Beautiful! It would fit in perfectly with my color scheme. ;)

Our centerpiece is our tree along with the gorgeous handmade tree skirt from my mother in law.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I participated in several of the cake+pie/freshly blended holiday ornament swaps, so I do love the ornaments I got from that-- and put it on a silver tree. I suppose our centrepoint would be our mantel- although I'm not sure if we have a distinct focal point. Our large artificial tree is in the front room of the house, so it's visible from the road, and of course we have electric candles in the windows. Someday I'd love to put a small tree on the porch- but the DH doesn't agree =( He also doesn't like my idea of getting one single lit holiday lawn flamingo to put by the mailbox. I think it would be hilarious! Sigh. It's all about compromise!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Also, I follow in fb & pinterest!

    ReplyDelete
  54. This years centerpiece is the 4 quilted stockings I made for myself and my family. Would love the "tree" quilt pattern.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Does it count if I say my mantel that I decorate the SAME every year? ;-) I really like it. We do get a live tree, but it is somewhat lackluster with its storebought skirt and kindergarten ornaments. I like it, but I would not name it our centerpiece. Your mini is absolutely darling -- thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I like to decorate the whole house, so far I have up 6 trees, some are very small but I try to bring Christmas to every room! I tend to go with more traditional colors, red, green, white, silver!
    lisamcgriff(at)hotmail(dot)com

    ReplyDelete
  57. We always have a big tree with lots of handmade ornaments passed down through generations!

    ReplyDelete
  58. For me, it's always the tree with glass bulbs and tons of white lights. Your mini quilt is too cute :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. The centerpiece of my holiday decor is my Christmas tree. It has ornaments that I have collected or been given over the years or purchased to commemorate various trips and events. It's a lot of fun to pull them out each year and remember!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I have a pearl glazed ceramic nativity set that is very special to the entire family. It is always prominently displayed in the house.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thanks for the giveaway! I love our tree in the living room and sitting with the lights off and the tree lights all lit up.

    ReplyDelete
  62. My decorating centerpiece is a Tilda Danta doll that I made and it is almost 1 metre long! Thank you for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Wonderful giveaway!!! You design lovely things :) For us it is the tree full of homemade salt dough ornaments from the neice and nephews and all sorts of homemade and unique decorations. Thank you for the chance :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. My favorite decoration is the nativity set my grandma gave me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The centre piece of our decorating is the angel for the top of the christmas tree - I have had her since I was a baby so she is 45 years old now too:)

    ReplyDelete
  66. My center piece right now is my lights outside. I don't have a lot of indoor decorations, but I'm looking to change that.

  67. I love that mini quilt! Christmas is all about the tree for our house, even though we've had different versions over the years.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This quilt is lovely. I have several different free-standing snowmen decorations but my main Christmas decoration is my little Christmas tree that I put up with ornaments I've collected over the years. Thanks for the chance to win!

  69. I grew up Jewish, so Christmas wasn't really something we did. Since getting married a couple of years ago I have had a tree (usually as big as we can fit in the living room) which I absolutely LOVE! Everybody should have a tree in their house in the middle of winter - it's the best thing ever!

    ReplyDelete
  70. i love handmade ornaments and santas! love the quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  71. My tree which has been decorated in red and gold for the past couple of years is the center but since I don't have a mantle I use the entertainment center. It is draped in garland and red and gold decorations to go with the tree. What fun!

    ReplyDelete
  72. My centerpieces are four Santa hat chair covers that are in my kitchen- I just love them!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I am a follower and I love your mini quilt. I really want to win it!

    ReplyDelete
  74. That mini quilt is just super! Our tree is always our "centerpiece" at Christmas time.

    ReplyDelete
  75. So cute! I guess our tree is the centerpiece of my decorating - live if we're home for the holidays, artificial if we're traveling.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I don't know that I have a centerpiece. My twenty something, way creative daughter decorates for me. It is something different every year.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  80. Our most important decoration is our Christmas tree. We cut a live one down in the forest and we decorate it with ornaments that we've collected throughout the years. It wouldn't be Christmas without it!

    ReplyDelete
  81. oooooo this is simply stunning, I love it. Um our centre piece is probably the tree, or the knitted nativity x

    ReplyDelete
  82. This year my tree is a button tree and I love it. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  83. We decorate around a live tree...and all my Jim Shore Santas.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Right now, it's our mantel... Until we get our tree up in 10 days :-)

    ReplyDelete
  85. Our centerpiece is the cheapy fake tree that we cover with ornaments, quite a few of them homemade. Someday I hope to say it's the nativity - but my kids try to play with them too much.

    ReplyDelete
  86. We have a live tree and decorate it with many ornaments collected over the years.

    ReplyDelete
  87. We get a live tree. The smell is just divine!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I am still developing traditions with my growing family and love that my husband has ornaments he's collected each year of his life!

    ReplyDelete
  89. My centre piece is my tree - it is a huge luscious one which I got through a miracle several years ago. I have slowly collected beautiful silver and blue and white glass decorations and some precious special decorations including some heirlooms and it really is spectacular.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I just slap up all the decorations I have wherever they fit! You can never have too much! This year my husband wants to get a fake tree and my daughter is fighting for a real one. It's a pretty funny battle actually!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I love your sweet forest mini!!! The one decorating item that I personally think the entire season revolves around is a woodland santa that I made several years ago. He stands about 2' tall, has a quilted coat and real lambs wool beard. I love him so much and when he comes out of storage each December it makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Well, since the mother in law moved in with us, we can't decorate the house due to her religion. But we have a small fiber optic Christmas tree in our bedroom.
    lisa(at)vetteklisa(dot)com

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm just building a collection of a few decorations besides the tree this year. My favorite new addition is a small mercury glass tree.

    ReplyDelete
  94. It's not Christmas until I hang the matching stockings I made for me and my husband the first year we lived together. The were one of the first quilted things I made. I guess that makes them the centerpiece of our holiday decorating. Thanks for the chance to win! akmajor (at) gmail (dot) com

    ReplyDelete
  95. Mine isn't one thing, but a collection of things. My mom bought me one ornament every year until I was 18. I am doing the same for my kids, so all the ornaments on our tree are extremely special and hold so many ornaments.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I love this! Thanks for the giveaway! I don't really have a "centerpiece" for decorating, but I have the star for our Christmas tree that we had when I was growing up. I'd say it's from the 60s or 70s. So, it keeps me decorating really traditional. :-) I like the big colored lights, etc. No white lights or little tiny lights for me. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  97. The tree is our highlight, kids can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Mine is our Christmas tree (it's fake). We load it up with lights and red wooden beads that I LOVE and all our favorite ornaments.
    peachstateme (at) hotmail (dot) com

    ReplyDelete
  99. I start with the colors of each room and try to match decorations, so in the living room and kitchen we use lots of robin's egg blue, silver, red, and green. The bathrooms get the gold, more traditional decorations. Everywhere gets lots of handmade and we have many trees. The nativity gets the spotlight though!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Our Christmas tree is the center of our decorations. You mini tree quilt is beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  101. The centrepiece of my decorating is the dozens of snowmen all over the house!

    Love the little quilt :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. Your tree mini is beautiful! Thanks so much for your generous giveaway! Our tree is the focus, decorated w/ornaments made from family!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Our decorating centerpiece is actually outside on the lawn - a GIANT, and I mean 12' tall, inflatable waving Santa. He's so big we had a car run into the median one year as they were driving by staring at Santa instead of the road. Also, another year, Google Earth took our satellite picture and Santa can be seen from space. This giant Santa is so special to my children and my husband, I had to sew one of his seams back together last year. seelifemarvels at gmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  105. I LOVE our tree with all ornaments with a memory attached to them -- my girls are just getting to the age where we are doing more and more Christmas crafts/ornaments, so we'll just add to the tree!

    ReplyDelete
  106. We always have a live tree in the living room.

    carolinebock1 at yahoo dot com

    ReplyDelete
  107. My husband has a foil wrapped christmas chocolate that has hung on his tree since he was a child. We always hang sentimental ornaments and a few new ones that become sentimental through the years.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Christmas is the only time that my Norfin troll collection is allowed out in the house (silly husband gets creeped out by them :P ) I have an angel troll that I use as my tree topper, and have various Christmas-themed trolls arranged throughout the rest of the house. Thanks so much for the chance at your lovely giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  109. I am also now following you on facebook and pinterest. Thanks again!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I have a very kitschy decoration that belonged to my grandparents - an band of elves made out of small pinecones (hard to describe). I love them because I think of my granparents when I see them so they always come out at the holidays. Thanks for a lovely giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Ornaments are essential to my Christmas decorating! Not only do I have ornaments that match my tree decor (silver, green, purple), but I also have ornaments that I have collected through the years from family and friends! It is always a joy to think of those people as I decorate my tree!

    ReplyDelete
  121. What a sweet little quilt! :-)

My partner and I haven't started any Christmas decorating traditions yet, however we've just had our first child so we're going to be starting some soon!

My parent's have two German ornaments that they were given from my mother's penfriend, that they bring out every year and set up on the coffee table in their lounge. A "smoking" woodcutter (you light an incense cone inside him, and it looks like he's smoking a pipe), and a merry-go-round that is driven by the heat of four little candles that are lit around it.

    ReplyDelete
  122. So cute! Every year we decorate our long dining room table with glass baubles, bead strings, candles etc and it looks great. It varies slightly from year to year but is always modern with clean lines. Thanks for the chance to win! Nicola

  145. Our centerpiece is a Dept. 56 mercury glass ornament. It is a red truck with a Christmas tree in the back..I bought it for Hubby when he gave his own vintage Chevy truck to a couple who really needed a vehicle. It also reminds my son of all the Christmases we picked up the tree in that truck!

  155. My heart skipped a beat when I saw that you had used Kate Spain's Joy collection for this little treasure. Truely you will bring JOY to the one who wins this. I never thought of any one of my decorations as being the christmas centerpiece but i guess it would be the Manger scene reminding us to keep our focus in all the frenzy. It is a wonderful time of year to remember God's great love for us. Bless you for sharing the JOY of it all with another. Janita
